Hideout: Early Reading 2.2.2

Hideout is an educational tool designed to enhance early reading skills through the implementation of research-based principles. It introduces phonic patterns in context through a diverse range of engaging mini-games:

• AP - Navigate stormy weather by interacting with objects like caps and maps
• OP - Visit the pop shop to fill up popcorn buckets
• IT - Manipulate rocks, bits, and pits in an interactive setting
• ET - Capture pets, keep them dry, and send them on a jet
• EN - Guide hens into pens for feeding
• AG - Sort rags into bags with a tagging twist
• UB - Bathe cubs in the tub by scrubbing and rubbing them clean
• IP - Dip chips for a fun feeding adventure
• OCK - Interact with blocks and rocks at the dock, then store them in socks
• ACK - Stack snacks arriving on a track onto racks
• IN - Manage pictures for display using pins and spinning techniques
• UG - Free bugs by removing plugs from jugs with a tug

This platform introduces letters, sounds, and phonic patterns in entertaining contexts that resonate with children. It enables purposeful skill development, encourages word pattern identification, and cultivates word recognition for enhanced reading comprehension. Developed by experts at Brigham Young University affiliated with the Systematic and Engaging Early Literacy (SEEL) program, Hideout mirrors the interactive teaching methods employed by SEEL educators both in classrooms and on their dedicated website.
